Brown water advisory issued for West Maui waters
A brown water advisory is issued for West Maui from Honolua Bay from Hanakao’o Beach Park after heavy rainfall from the cold front that passed over the state on Friday.
The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing of cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris, the state Department of Health said.
Brown water is known to attract sharks due to possible dead animals being washed into the ocean, officials said.
