A 32-year-old man died after falling from a roll-up cargo van early Sunday morning in the parking lot of Aloha Stadium, Honolulu police said.

The driver, a 39-year-old Honolulu man, was traveling northbound in the parking lot around 4:15 a.m. The victim, a Waipahu man, was sitting in the rear of the cargo van with the door open when he fell out and struck the pavement, according to police.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors at this time, police said.

This is the ninth traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to six at the same time last year.
