Rainbow Wahine rout Matadors, honor Mosley-McAfee
Junior guard Destiny King scored 15 points and the Rainbow Wahine honored the memory of the late Judy Mosley-McAfee by defeating Cal State Northridge 64-49 in a Big West basketball game Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
A crowd of 1,085 saw freshman center Megan Huff come off the bench for 11 points in the first half and senior guard Ashleigh Karaitiana 10 for Hawaii (13-7, 5-2), who won their fifth straight. It extended the Wahine’s home conference winning streak to 10 dating back to last season.
Janae Sharpe had 14 points for the defending Big West champion Matadors (14-8, 4-4).
Hawaii outrebounded CSUN 55-35, led by Huff’s 11.
During a halftime ceremony, Mosley-McAfee’s jersey was retired, with a banner bearing the All-America honoree’s name and No. 32 hung from the rafters of the arena. It is the first such honor for any player in a UH arena sport.
