Winter blizzard cancels about 1,600 Chicago flights
CHICAGO >> The blast of wintry weather has canceled about 1,600 flights out of both of Chicago’s airports.
The Chicago Department of Aviation said Sunday that both O’Hare and Midway international airports are reporting some delays. About 1,300 flights have been canceled out of O’Hare and roughly 300 out of Midway.
Meteorologists say there’s a blizzard warning in effect for the Chicago area until late Sunday. Up to 18 inches of snow are possible with up to 40 mph winds.
In the rest of the state, the northern half of Illinois faces winter storm and storm warnings.
Gov. Bruce Rauner canceled a morning church stop in Chicago because of the weather.
