Police arrested an 18-year-old Kalihi man for allegedly trying to hit a police officer with a weapon in Makiki Friday morning.

Officers were responding to an argument call when the man approached a 33-year-old male officer aggressively and allegedly tried to strike him with a weapon, police said. Police would not specify what type of weapon was used.

The attack occurred 2:45 a.m. Friday, police said.

Responding officers assisted and arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder.
