Let’s hope Med-Quest churn improves KOLEA

Not many details have emerged yet about the departure of Dr. Kenny Fink, who has headed the state’s Med-Quest Medicaid office for some seven years. Fink did say he was "asked to resign," but the exact reasons aren’t clear. However, the context is that the program has faced persistent problems with KOLEA, its online Medicaid eligibility website.

The public can only hope that better news about the program performance — much better news — is forthcoming.

Diamond Head Theatre’s been a gem for 100 years

There will be lots of galas and other events marking the 100th anniversary of Diamond Head Theatre — centennials are big occasions, after all. But beyond the parties and shows, that impressive milestone is also food for thought. Given the flagging institutional support for the arts, how could it last this long?

DHT, known by various names over the decades, is testament to the people power, if not institutional money, devoted to this particular passion. Like all community theaters, and much of the performing arts, volunteerism keeps them going. And Oahu would lose so much without them.
