Dragic, Whiteside out for Miami with injuries
MIAMI >> Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside both missed Miami’s game against Sacramento on Saturday night with injuries.
A third would-be starter, Luol Deng, also missed the game. Deng sat out for the second straight night with a bruised thigh.
Dragic has been dealing with back and shoulder pain for at least a week, and left Friday night’s game at Washington with a lower back contusion — the aftereffects of a hard fall in the third quarter.
Whiteside tried to warm up about an hour before the game, but was held out with a recurrence of an ankle issue that has bothered him in recent weeks.
The Heat wound up listing Henry Walker, Udonis Haslem, Chris Andersen, Dwyane Wade and Shabazz Napier as starters. Wade missed Friday’s game with a sore hip and Haslem got treatment for a number of nagging issues before Saturday’s game.
Miami entered the night No. 9 in the Eastern Conference standings, one spot out of a playoff berth.
