Oklahoma scores big late to win series against Hawaii
A two-out throwing error in the seventh inning allowed Oklahoma to score the go-ahead run and the Sooners took advantage of five walks by the UH bullpen to defeat Hawaii 6-3 and win the series on Sunday at Les Murakami Stadium.
Corey Copping (3-0) held Hawaii to one run on four hits in six innings to earn the victory for the Sooners (15-8).
All six Oklahoma runs were scored after the sixth inning. Four of the six to score reached base via a walk.
Josh Pigg (0-2) walked the first two batters in the seventh to take the loss. Matt Valencia appeared to get out of the inning with the game still tied, but a throwing error by J.J. Kitaoka wide of first allowed the go-ahead run to score.
Oklahoma added three more runs in the eighth and another in the ninth. Hawaii (7-13) scored two in the ninth before losing for the eighth time in its last 10 games.
Senior Jarrett Arakawa, making his second start of the season, threw five scoreless innings despite a pitch count of 50 as he returns from shoulder surgery.

Arakawa was brilliant, allowing two hits and no walks with two strikeouts and was in line for the win before the bullpen imploded.
Next up for Hawaii is a four-game home series with New Mexico State starting Thursday night.
