Rainbow Warrior volleyball team ranked No. 1 in AVCA poll
The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team is ranked No. 1 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I-II poll.
The Warriors received nine first-place votes (from the 18-member panel) and 255 points.
They ascended from No. 4 last week after the top three teams — Loyola-Chicago, Lewis and UC Irvine — each suffered losses the past week.
Loyola, which had been No. 1 since the preseason, dropped to second with 249 points and six first-place-votes.
Lewis, which defeated Loyola but lost to Ohio State last week, dropped one spot to No. 3.
The Warriors are 17-3 overall and 12-2 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. They have a bye this weekend, and resume MPSF play with a four-match road trip beginning March 27.
