Hawaii island man faces drug charges after police search

Hawaii County police charged a Captain Cook man Tuesday with methamphetamine trafficking and other offenses after police executed search warrant at his house Monday .

The search was done at a home on the 84-1000 block of Bruner Road in Captain Cook, where police recovered 44.1 grams of a crystalline substance packaged in a manner consistent with meth distribution, paraphernalia associated with meth use, an unregistered .22-caliber rifle and $1,221 in cash.

Police arrested 33-year-old Matthew Cummings at the scene. He was charged Tuesday with meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, possessing drug paraphernalia and three firearms offenses. His bail was set at $68,000.
