Man in critical condition after swim portion of Lavaman Triathlon

A 52-year-old man who was participating in the Lavaman Triathlon in Waikoloa on Sunday was unconscious after he was found floating in the ocean during the swim portion of the race, Hawaii County fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to Anaeho’omalu Bay just before 8 a.m. to find the man without a pulse and not breathing.

Ocean Safety used a jet ski to bring the man back to shore. Paramedics treated and revived the man and transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
