Maui is the best island in the U.S. and the second-best in the world according to island-winners of the TripAdvisor 2015 Travelers’ Choice Awards.
The first-place world-winner is Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, while third place is Roatan, in Honduras.
On the U.S. list, Hawaii island ranks second behind Maui, while Kauai is third, putting all three Hawaiian islands at the top tier of famed island vacation destinations a little more closely offshore from the mainland. Those include Key West, Fla., Hilton Head, S. Carolina, Key Largo, Fla and Mackinac Island, Mich., among ohters.
The annual awards are based on millions of reviews and opinions shared by TripAdvisor website users around the world and gathered over a 12-month period.
