Hilton to open new Waikiki hotel
Hilton Worldwide will transform the Ohana Waikiki West into Hawaii’s first Hilton Garden Inn hotel.
The 623-room hotel will open in early 2016 after extensive renovation.
The Hilton Garden Inn, at 2330 Kuhio Ave., will be managed by Evolution Hospitality according to an announcement by the Virginia-based hospitality company.
Hilton operates other Hilton Garden Inn-branded hotels on the mainland.
“This hotel development marks a significant milestone for Hilton Worldwide as we expand our presence and diversify our accommodations options in Hawaii,” said Bill Fortier, Hilton senior vice president for development in the Americas, in a statement.
Redevelopment of the Ohana Waikiki West, built in 1970, already is underway.
