Suspect released in Kalihi stabbing


Police released the suspect in a Kalihi stabbing after authorities declined Sunday to prosecute the 21-year-old man

Police arrested the suspect at 12:10 p.m. Saturday at his Kalihi home on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, about 40 minutes after the alleged stabbing and assault.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, drove himself to Waialua after being stabbed in Kalihi at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Police said the suspect and the victim argued before the stabbing..

Paramedics reported that the victim had multiple stab wounds and had been struck by an object. He was treated at Kahaone Loop in Waialua and taken to a hospital in serious condition.
