Averill named to All-American first team
University of Hawaii middle blocker Taylor Averill was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s All-America first team announced Monday..
Averill, a senior from San Jose, Calif., is ranked second nationally in hitting percentage (.483) and averages 1.30 blocks per set.
Opposite attacker Brook Sedore, who leads the Warriors with 3.36 kills per set, was named to the All-America second team.
Libero Kolby Kanetake, outside hitter Siki Zarkovic and sophomore setter Jennings Franciskovic received honorable mention.
The Warriors face Penn State in Tuesday’s NCAA play-in match at Stanford, Calif.
Others with Hawaii ties selected to the first team were USC senior setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) and Pepperdine outside hitter Josh Taylor (Punahou). BYU senior libero Jaylen Reyes (Kamehameha) was named honorable mention.
