Honolulu fire crews are responding to a report of an aircraft crash at Bellows Air Force Station.

KITV reports that the call came in about 11:45 a.m., and that it was not clear if the crash was related to training being conducted by the Marines at the station. The public affairs office at Marine Corps Base Hawaii told The Associated Press it did not immediately have details.

Nearby residents reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the area.

Bellows is used primarily as a training area for Marines and other military units.
