Victims found in Waikiki, North Shore waters identified
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified two men who apparently drowned Tuesday in separate incidents at beaches in Waikiki and Laniakea.
Shawn Kim, 39, of Elk Grove, Calif., was found unresponsive in about 6 feet of water off Waikiki Beach near the Kapahulu Wall just before 4:30 p.m.
Life guards performed CPR and paramedics took him in critical condition to the hospital, where he died just before 5:30 p.m.
Dean Huhane,45, of Kaneohe, was diving at Laniakea Beach when witness reported that he was in trouble.
Firefighters brought him to shore where paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:45 p.m.
Autopsies will be conducted to determine cause of death of both men.
