A 24-year-old man has been charged with the theft of a motor vehicle in Kaneohe, driving without a license, third-degree assault, and possession of a deadly weapon.

Christian Iwane of Kapolei was arrested on Thursday following the alleged theft sometime between 4:40 and 5:36 p.m.

His bail was set at $30,000, Honolulu police said.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from a residence and that the owner pursued the thief until they crashed into each other.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the owner, then fled on foot.

Police said that he was in possession of an electric gun.
