Honolulu the second-costliest U.S. city for summer travel
Honolulu is second-only to Seattle as the most expensive U.S. city for summer travel, according to the new TripIndex Cities report released Wednesday by TripAdvisor.com.
The study calculates the cost of a three-day trip for two, including a stay in a 4 to 4.5-star hotel, organized tours or activities, taxi rides, and lunch and dinner each day.
In Seattle the total would be $2,080, and in Honolulu, the cost would be $2,046. Boston rounds out the top three at a cost of $1,931.
The most affordable U.S. city to visit, Dallas, would cost $1,171; No. 2, New Orleans, would cost $1,248, and third-most affordable Miami weighed in at $1,262.
The most expensive international destinations were Cancun, Mexico, at $2,019; Zurich, Switzerland, at $1,945, and the top U.S. city on the list, New York, at $1,909.
New York City is the fifth-priciest on the U.S. destinations list.

The least expensive international destinations this summer will be No. 1 Hanoi, Vietnam at $732; Warsaw, Poland, at $739, and Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, at $820.
