UH’s King to play in Pacific Games for American Samoa
Hawaii senior guard Destiny King will compete for the American Samoa national women’s basketball team in next month’s XV Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.
King, whose mother Mona Fa’amausili was born in American Samoa, leaves Wednesday to train for the July 3-18 competition in Port Moresby.. Twenty-four countries from around the Pacific Rim vie in 28 sports. King is one of three Big West Conference players on the squad, the others being Cal Poly’s Kristen Ale and Long Beach State’s Tipesa Moorer Mercedes.
American Samoa is in the Pool B with Fiji, Guam and New Caledonia. This is King’s first trip outside of the U.S.
