  • John Salomon, 39, of the Maui Police Department has been placed on leave after he was charged with driving under the influence Thursday afternoon.

A Maui police officer on administrative leave following an arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant was arrested Saturday in California for allegedly being drunk in public.

John Salomon, 39, of Pukalani was arrested around 4:36 p.m. Hawaii time by the Newport Beach Police Department. His bail was set at $500.

No details of the incident were released.

Salomon, a three-year veteran of the Maui Police Department, has been on administrative leave since his June 11 arrest on Maui.
