Hurricane Dolores weakens further in Pacific
MIAMI » Hurricane Dolores has weakened further in the Pacific off Mexico’s coast on Wednesday although it remains a Category 3 storm.
The storm’s maximum sustained winds decreased slightly to near 115 mph since the afternoon. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says fluctuations in intensity are possible Thursday, but the hurricane is expected to weaken further Thursday night and Friday.
Dolores is centered about 270 miles south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and is moving west-northwest at 6 mph. It is expected to turn west Friday.
Swells generated by the hurricane are affecting parts of Mexico’s southwestern coast along with the southern coast of the Baja California peninsula. The swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
