Hawaii island firefighters rescued a couple injured Thursday afternoon below the falls near Piihonua Bridge in Hilo.
Two rescue divers were deployed into the pond about 2:10 p.m. from the Fire Department helicopter and helped the man and woman into a net. The two were transferred to an ambulance, treated and transported to Hilo Medical Center in stable condition.
