4 arrested in Whitmore Village murder case

Yellow police tape surrounds a home in Whitmore Village where the body of a man was found early Wednesday morning.

Police on Thursday arrested four suspects in connection with the death of a 65-year-old Whitmore Village man two months ago whose car was found burning in Waianae. 

Arrested were a 29-year-old Waianae man on suspicion of second-degree arson, second-degree murder, use of a firearm and owning or possessing a prohibited weapon; a 30-year-old Makaha man on suspicion of being an accomplice to murder and a weapons offense; a 26-year-old woman with no local address on suspicion of second-degree murder and use of a firearm; and a 26-year-old Makaha woman, who lives with the 30-year-old man, on suspicion of first-degree hindering prosection.

The body of William Aki Jr. was found just after midnight June 24 at his Kaniahe Street home by police who went there while following up on a report of a car burning in Waianae. Firefighters extinguished the fire in a BMW registered to Aki at 11:11 p.m. June 23.
