Victim sustains serious facial injuries in Hilo robbery

Hawaii island police are investigating a robbery on Thursday that left a 33-year-old man with serious facial injuries. 

The victim told police that he was in the area of Keawe Street in Hilo when two males approached him from the back and began to punch him. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and cellphone and attempted to take his backpack before fleeing. 

One suspect was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with a dark complexion and stocky build. The other suspect was described as about 6-feet tall with a dark complexion and stocky build. 

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
