South Maui water service restored

WAILUKU >> Residents in south Maui have water service back after crews repaired a broken 18-inch transmission waterline.

Maui County officials tweeted that crews restored service in Kihei at about 12:30 a.m. But about 50 residences in Haiku remained without service Monday morning.

South Maui residents may have experienced no water service or low water pressure after the Sunday afternoon break, the Maui News reported. Another break near Five Corners on Peahi, Kaupakalua and Ulumalu roads left Haiku customers without service.

The Department of Water Supply made water tanks and two fire hydrants available for the public’s use. Low levels in storage tanks had officials asking residents to conserve how much water they used.
