Broken water main closes street in Waikiki; Aloha Oe Drive reopened
Streets in Waikiki and Maunawili were closed as Board of Water Supply crews worked to repair ruptured water mains.
Police closed both directions of Hobron Lane in Waikiki between Lipeepee Street and Ena Road on Sunday afternoon just before 1 p.m.
Aloha Oe Drive was reopened at 3:48 p.m. after the water main break was repaired. The water main break at 1276 was reported at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and forced the closure of the section of the street between Kika Street and Kika Place, according to a board spokesman. At 1 a.m. Saturday, at least 44 customers were without water service.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area as repair work continues through Sunday on the 12-inch water main, originally installed in 1963.
