Hawaii County police identify man who died after Puna traffic collision

Hawaii island police have identified a Washington State man who died Saturday after being involved in a traffic collision on Route 137, 0.1 mile south of the 17-mile marker in Puna.

He was identified as Richard Frank Rice, 62, of Mill Creek, Wash.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday but police are awaiting toxicology results.

Police ask any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle, a silver 2015 Hyundai Elantra four-door sedan, between 7:45 and 8:38 p.m. or anyone with any other information about this case to call officer Clarence Acob at 961-2332.
