    Witnesses say a man in a wheelchair was hit by a car while crossing King St. out of a crosswalk between Hausten St. and University Ave. in Moiliili on Tuesday

Police have initiated a negligent injury investigation after a 60-year-old man was hit while jaywalking across South King Street in a wheelchair Tuesday night in Moiliili.

Police said the accident occurred at 8:18 p.m. The victim, who was in a wheelchair, was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a car driven by a 50-year-old woman.

The driver was making a left turn onto South King Street from the Long’s parking lot near Hausten Street. The pedestrian was heading mauka on South King Street.

The pedestrian was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the car was not injured.
