Hawaii’s unemployment rate falls to 3.5 percent

Hawaii’s unemployment rate is at a seven-year low.

The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations said Thursday Hawaii’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent last month from 3.7 percent in July.

The department says the rate was last at or below 3.5 percent in March 2008.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.1 percent last month.
