Michael Pang of Kahala was on the hunt for an air-conditioned restaurant when he was directed to the Hawaii Restaurant in Sandakan, the second-largest city in the state of Sabah in Borneo, Malaysia. Pang was in Sandakan in May as part of a coast-to-coast journey through Borneo led by MidWeek columnist Bob Jones.
