The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office today identified the 73-year-old man who was fatally injured Wednesday after crashing into a tree in Kapolei as Victor Lima of Kapolei.

Lima was trying to pass another vehicle on Kapolei Parkway at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, when his car clipped the mirror of the other vehicle, swerved and hit the curb of the median. The car continued on and crashed into a tree in the median, pinning Lima inside.

The crash occurred near Kapolei Parkway and Kinoiki Street.

Lima was taken in critical condition by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 60s, was not injured in the accident.
