Medical Examiner’s office IDs moped rider killed in Kapolei crash
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 51-year-old Waianae man who was killed Tuesday when after being thrown from the moped he was driving in Kapolei as David Rodrigues.
Police said Rodrigues was traveling east on Farrington Highway at 5:38 a.m. when his 2014 moped hit a curb near the Kapolei Golf Course.
He was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center where he died.
Police said neither speed nor drugs appear to be factors in the accident.
This was the fourth major moped accident since Sunday. It was Oahu’s 38th traffic death, compared to 46 at the same time last year.
