Hawaii’s four major islands top the U.S. in Conde Nast awards

Maui, Kauai, Oahu and Hawaii island, in that order, are the best islands in the United States, according to the annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

The magazine’s scores for top-ranked Maui and second-ranked Kauai beat Palawan in the Philippines, at the top of the list of 20 Best Islands in the World.

Honolulu ranked 7th among the 15 Best Big Cities in the U.S. The top six are New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, New Orleans, and sixth-ranked Washington D.C.

The Koa Kea Hotel & Resort at Po‘ipu Beach on Kauai ranked 43rd among the 100 Top Hotels and Resorts in the world, and the Montage Kapalua Bay ranked at No. 67.

No Hawaii hotels are among the magazine’s top 25 in the U.S.

Hawaiian Airlines appears at No. 3 among the top five U.S. airlines, behind Virgin America at No. 1 and JetBlue at No. 2.
