Hawaii island police ID missing Hilo man’s body
Hawaii island police today confirmed the identity of a body found in a ravine in Hilo as that of 93-year-old Masaru Miyamoto.
An autopsy determined Miyamoto died from injuries in a fall, police said.
Miyamoto and his wife Tamie, 88, were reported missing Friday after the couple had not been seen in Hilo since Oct. 11.
Police located Miyamoto’s body Friday afternoon at the bottom of a ravine behind a home on Kahema Street.
During a search of the surrounding area, police found Tamie Miyamoto in thick vegetation. She is in good condition in Hilo Medical Center, police said.
