Police arrest missing Kauai extended furlough inmate
Kauai police have arrested an extended furlough inmate who on Tuesday failed to report for his scheduled check-in at a transitional home in Kapaa.
Police apprehended Kauai Community Correctional Center inmate Aaron Fowler, 48, in the Koloa area.
Fowler is classified as “community custody,” which is the lowest custody level, according to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety.
Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside of the correctional facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.
A parole hearing for Fowler, who is serving time for burglary and credit card theft, was scheduled for March.
