Police say teens assaulted, robbed two at Lihue beach
Police detained four teenage boys in connection with an assault and robbery this week at a Lihue beach.
The juveniles assaulted a 24-year-old Lihue man and stole a bag from a 21-year-old California woman at Ninini Beach, also known as Running Waters, at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and fled the scene.
The victims sought help from bystanders. Hotel security at Kauai Marriott and police were notified.
Police said the man suffered a laceration above his eye, and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Officers located one teen near the hotel pool. The other juveniles were caught near Kalapaki Beach.
All were transported to the Lihue station for questioning. Two brothers, ages 15 and 17, were released to their parents. The two other teens, twins, 15, were detained on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
