Manhunt under way for 2 suspects in shopping center shooting

LIVERMORE, Calif. » The manhunt for an 18-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man and wounding another at a Northern California shopping center continued Sunday after a search of his Oakland home came up empty.

A SWAT team stormed a house where 18-year-old Jason Alexander Brown lives with his family, but the suspect was not found, Livermore police Sgt. Steve Goard told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Brown was considered one of two suspects in a Saturday night shooting outside a CVS pharmacy in Livermore.

Police said at least one gunman opened fire with a high-powered rifle on two men in their 20s who were inside a vehicle in the parking lot, killing the driver of the car. The passenger was rushed to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses said the suspects took off a black BMW with red racing stripes on the hood.

California Highway Patrol officers chased after the car but lost sight of it in Oakland.

Officers surrounded the house in West Oakland where Brown and his family live after discovering the BMW there.

Detectives obtained a no bail warrant for his arrest on murder and attempted murder charges before executing the warrant early Sunday. Several people inside the house came out, but Brown was not found.

Police said he is considered armed and dangerous.

The identity of the second suspect is still unknown.
