The Honolulu Police Department will begin a drive to recruit radio dispatchers next week.

Applications will be accepted online from Nov. 1 to 19.

Informational sessions will be held on Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Nov. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the HPD’s Alapai headquarters. Preregistration is required. Seating is limited and tickets are mandatory.

The dispatchers are responsible for coordinating and sending police officers to reports of crime, disturbances, emergencies, complaints, and other requests for police assistance. They’re also responsible for helping callers while recording vital information for first responders.
