Buckner, Fairbairn up for Polynesian college football award
Former Punahou School teammates DeForest Buckner and Ka’imi Fairbairn are among the five finalists for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award.
In addition to Buckner, a defensive end at Oregon, and Fairbairn, a kicker at UCLA, Su’a Cravens (linebacker, USC), Juju Smith-Schuster (receiver, USC) and Ronnie Stanley (offensive lineman, Notre Dame) are the finalists announced today.
The winner of the award sponsored and selected by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame will be announced Dec. 8, and honored Jan. 29 and 30 on Oahu at the PFHOF’s enshrinement activities on Oahu.
Marcus Mariota, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from Saint Louis School and Oregon, was the winner of last year’s inaugural Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award.
