A pedestrian in her 50s was transported to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition after she was struck by a sport utility vehicle in proximity to the Honolulu International Airport.

The collision occurred at 3131 N. Nimitz Highway.

At approximately 7 p.m Thursday, police said a man in his 20s operating the SUV was traveling eastbound on Nimitz when the vehicle struck the pedestrian who was walking mauka across the highway.

She suffered head and internal trauma and was transported to Queen’s. Police said she was not in a crosswalk.

The SUV driver, the sole occupant in the vehicle, did not suffer any injuries.

Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
