Police: Suspect used force trying to flee after theft

A 46-year-old homeless man remained in police custody on a contempt of court warrant, following his arrest on suspicion of robbery and theft Monday.

Police said the suspect took merchandise from a business in the Punchbowl area at about 2 p.m. and used force in an attempt to get away.

Police arrested the suspect at about 3:25 p.m. at the Queen’s Medical Center on suspicion of second-degree robbery, theft and on the outstanding warrant.
