Coast Guard looking for owner of missing kayak found near Kailua

The kayak is 12-feet long, yellow and accommodates two passengers.
The Coast Guard is asking for the public’s help to find the owner of a yellow kayak that was found near Mokolea Rock near Kailua on Sunday.
The 12-foot long kayak was found around 10:15 a.m. without a leash and partially submerged. It accomodates two kayaers, the Coast Guard said.
There are currently no reported signs of distress of missing persons in the area, officials said.
“The Coast Guard encourages owners who lose their watercraft to report it to the Coast Guard with a good description so that we can eliminate any unnecessary searches,” said Lt. j.g Christa Funk, a command duty officer at the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center. “We appreciate the support of good Samaritans in the area recovering and reporting such craft.”

Do these things. Carry a cell phone in a waterproof twice ziplock bag. Attach a waterproof tag to the boat with Name, address, several cell phone numbers, and email addresses. Take emergency food in ziplock bags. Tell friends or lifeguards where you are going, your cell phone number, and respect the weather conditions. Was pretty windy yesterday. Same things you should do when hiking. Expect the worst or lose your life. Maybe all floating leisure craft should be licensed like cars.

They should pass a law that if you’re out in the water without some kind of identification on your gear, you get cited. Think of the money saved by not doing unnecessary searches.
Could it belong to the two divers who were injured off Lanikai Beach yesterday?
What a headline! Should it not be: “Coast Guard Searching for owners of Found Kayak?”
If Obama was still in Kailua, his secret service would help in locating the losted, kayak man.
Would not surprise if this is from molokai.
