The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 57-year-old woman who was hit by a car while walking on Farrington Highway as Charmaine Cagata.

Cagata was walking on Farrington Highway late Tuesday night when she was hit by a car driven by a 29-year-old woman. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died Friday. The accident occurred near the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant near Kaupuni Street.

This was the second traffic fatality this year, compared to five at the same time a year ago. It also was the second to occur on Farrington Highway last week.

Francisco Molina, 84, died Thursday after being struck by a car on Farrington Highway near Tamura Super Market Wednesday.

Police said that in both accidents speed and alcohol were not factors.
