Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes is headed for trial on domestic abuse charges on Maui.

Maui County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kerry Glen says trial is set for April 4, but a plea deal could be reached before then.

Reyes pleaded not guilty in November to abusing a family or household member.

Neither Reyes’ agent nor his Maui defense attorney David Sereno could be reached for comment.

The former New York Mets shortstop was arrested on Oct. 31 at the Wailea Four Seasons Resort on charges that he abused his wife. Maui police said he was released after posting $1,000 bail and ordered to stay away from his wife for three days after the arrest.
