Wailuku woman critically injured in Napili crash
A 20-year-old Wailuku woman was critically injured Thursday when the pickup truck she was driving overturned ejecting her from the vehicle in Napili, Maui police said.
A white 2006 Mazda pickup truck was traveling north on Lower Honoapiilani Road at 1:48 a.m. Thursday when the truck failed to make it around a left bend in the road, police said.
The truck then skidded out of control, crossing left of center, striking the makai side curb/sidewalk where it then overturned, police said. The truck knocked down a fence line and collided with two parked vehicles within a private parking lot.
The operator who was not wearing a seat belt sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center emergency room in critical condition.
Her front seat passenger, a 37 year old male from Wailuku, was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries, police said.
