Gabbard to discuss dengue, Zika with UH medical experts

U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard will meet privately today with state legislators and others to discuss dengue fever outbreak efforts and Zika virus prevention.

On Thursday, Gabbard will be at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine to meet privately with medical experts on how to eliminate and prevent dengue fever as well as how to protect against Zika virus infection.

On Friday, Gov. David Ige signed an emergency proclamation to fight the viruses.

The Big Island is currently dealing with a large dengue fever outbreak, with 256 confirmed cases there. Meanwhile, there aren’t any locally-acquired cases of Zika – a virus linked to a serious birth defect called microcephaly.

“..virus linked to a serious birth defect called microcephaly…” BELIEVED to be “linked”; not yet PROVEN.

Might as well as talk to the cash strapped college. Ige has his to help the homeless first.

If it is a private meeting, why the publicity?

Healthy–get real. THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR!!! Did you hear anything from her last year???? She should go out to Tripler and find a parking space–she’s on the Armed Forces committee–let’s get some construction $$$$.

  4. Bothrops says:

what exactly is her role as a US representative in a local/state matter unless she can get federal funds to help. This is not news as nothing has happened yet and it isn’t clear there will be any outcome. I look forward to the SA giving coverage minute by minute of all her meetings. The news is the news, not press releases,

Gabbard stikes me a smart girl. Didn’t know there was such a thing as a smart Samoan. She is using the media to publicize her efforts to emphasize the need for actions to fight Dengue. Best to start by discussing it with local experts to see what we do and don’t know. Then on to more discussions with bigger experts on the mainland and in the CDC. She has the position of Representatives and is using it the best she can for us. She will also try to use her position to influence everyone who is someone in Congress to help Hawaii with monies, personnel, experts, equipment, and such. Luckily Obama is our President, and he still loves us. Tulsi is one hell of an Energizer Bunny. She is our Supergirl.

Since last week Wednesday when the SBA reported that no new cases were reported we still haven’t heard of any newer ones detected this Wednesday today. Maybe it will soon be officially declared over. But let us not rest. Let us learn from our mistakes and correct efforts to prepare for Zika, Chika, drug-resistant TB and flesh-resistant bacteria of all kinds, and new diseases that will appear as a result of our overpopulation. Get ready.

Eh no worries…as long as Obama’s vetting policies are in place and main thing no South American ILLEGAL immigrants…(remember the barrage of them crossing the borders last year and continuing)…comes here to Hawaii we ok. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Ige, with his Aloha Open Arms policy saying, no worries…we get’m undah control!
