Vog to go away, but just for a day
Some relief from the vog is likely on the way. But the clear skies won’t last long.
“We’ve had an extensive period of light and variable winds and that’s caused a pretty large area of vog to be pooled around the state right now,” said Derek Wroe, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Honolulu office.
The winds are forecast to shift to the north this afternoon and evening and that should clear the vog from Oahu by Saturday.
But the winds will shift again and become southerly Saturday afternoon into Sunday, bringing the vog back and Kona-weather humidity to Oahu on Sunday.
With the Kona winds, the weather will be “noticeably more humid than it has been,” Wroe said.
The vog and muggy weather should stick around through Monday.

A cold front is forecast to move through the islands Sunday, blowing away the vog and bringing a few showers to the state.
Strong tradewinds will also return and should keep the vog away through the end of the next week.
