Coast Guard looking for owner of surfboard found adrift near Diamond Head

The Coast Guard is searching for the owner of a surfboard found adrift about a mile south of Diamond Head Wednesday.

The Coast Guard was searching for the owner of a surfboard found adrift near the Diamond Head lookout Wednesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard received a report of the unmanned surfboard seen floating about a mile south of Diamond Head at about 3:43 p.m.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, the Coast Guard Cutter Ahi, Honolulu firefighters, the Fire Department helicopter and city lifeguards on rescue watercraft searched the area for the owner.

There are no reported missing persons.

The surfboard is white with yellow rails and the Hawaiian Islands on the top and bottom of the board.

Anyone with information on the board is asked to call the Coast Guard at (808) 842-2600.

The Coast Guard also offers free “if found” decals that can be placed on boards or other watercraft that will enable responders to identify the owner.

    Belongs to Mr. No Na Me. Sell it at government auction and use proceeds for ocean education, like putting an ID on ocean items.
