Maui police investigate altercation where shot fired

Maui police are investigating what was reported to be an altercation in Wailuku involving more than 20 people that resulted in the discharge of a firearm and the injury of the alleged shooter early Sunday morning.

The altercation reportedly occurred in the parking lot fronting Ray’s Bar on Waiehu Beach Road around 2:02 a.m.

Arriving officers found an injured man on the ground and five bystanders in the area.

The man was transported in stable condition to the Maui Medical Center.

According to police, the injured man fired a gun, although no weapon was found at the scene and no injuries were reported as a result of the shot.

No arrests have yet been made.
